Flats for festivals
Music festivals are a much-loved cultural institution. For some, they’re an annual ritual. For others, an occasional treat. And for many, a source of happy memories that last for years. More than a few marriages even have their origins in a muddy field somewhere! But while for some, camping is part of the fun, others are not so keen. So-called ‘glamping’ is one alternative. But luxury yurts or caravans come at luxury prices. So, is there a more economical alternative? Yes!
The joys of civilisation
More and more smart festival goers are discovering the joys of serviced accommodation. Short-term lets might be more familiar as an option for city breaks. Or for contract work in another part of the country. But enterprising minds have noticed stylish and affordable accommodation close to various festival sites. For town and city-based festivals, it’s an obvious solution. But even for more rural ones, you’ll often find transport links make a nearby flat an attractive option.
Let’s start with the obvious benefits. A proper flat means you’re sheltered from the elements. No pouring rain, hail or sleet. And no stepping into thick mud the moment you go out in the morning. There will even be heating. An essential benefit in the colder months. And sometimes in the British summer! You’ll also have your own showers. Clean showers! And – whisper it – the same goes for toilets. We don’t have to paint you a picture. Let’s just say festival facilities can be less than salubrious.
A room (and more) of your own
You’ll also have a proper bed to come home to at night. No more sleeping on mats that offer scant protection from the hard ground. And no more awkward situations when getting dressed in shared spaces. (Unless by choice!) There will even be a kitchen so you can make yourself a proper cup of tea. A leisurely breakfast. And all the meals you want without paying festival prices!
Throw in secure storage for your valuables. Ample electrical sockets to charge your phones. And even your own washing machine. That means you can enjoy the mud during gigs and get your clothes cleaned for the next day! And, since you’ll be in town rather than a campsite, you can get to the shops. No worries if you forget something. And, again, you’ll only be paying supermarket prices.
A game changer for festivals
There are other less obvious benefits too. If you’re looking forward to several days of action, you’ll need your sleep. Having a comfortable base means you’ll sleep better. And have more energy as the festival goes on. And you can get away from the noise of the festival when you choose to. That means you’ll enjoy the music and general buzz all the more when you return.
Best of all, you and your companions can enjoy the festival your way. If that means some want to party while others rest, no problem. A flat affords much more privacy than even adjacent tents. So before you resign yourself to the downsides of a festival, think again. Consider the smart alternative to camping. Why not give us a call to let us know where you’re headed? We might well have somewhere handy. So you can look forward to doing festivals the smart way.
